Pontiac MNA André Fortin spoke with CHIP 101.9 about some of the highlights (and lowlights) of this year’s provincial budget, which was tabled earlier this week.

One of the most discussed aspects of the document was the government giving $500 cheques to every Quebecer making less than $100,000 per year, which he said was obvious election-year politicking.

He said that one of the most common concerns that he hears from Pontiacers is the current backlog in surgeries due to the pandemic. He said that while there was more health care spending in this budget, there wasn’t a plan to address the patients across the province waiting to see the inside of an operating room.

The full interview with Fortin is available here (discussion of the budget starts at the 13 minute mark).
