Interruption in obstetric services extended until Monday
Shawville – The interruption in obstetricsc services at Shawville Hospital, which was due to end this Friday, will be extended until 4PM on Monday, October 28th.
After the end of the new interruption, in order to provide obstetric services in the Pontiac, the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais announced that two nurses from the Hôpital général juif, which is part of the Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux (CIUSSS) du Centre-Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, will help the obstetrics wing in Shawville to provide continuous service.
Before the obstetric services are restored, pregnant women in labor will be redirected, after being evaluated at the Pontiac Community Hospital, to the Gatineau Hospital. In the event that a pregnant woman arrives at the Shawville Hospital for imminent delivery, the CISSS de l’Outaouais ensures that there will be qualified personnel on site to provide care and the mother will then be transferred to the Gatineau hospital. The expecting mothers that could be affected by this break in service have been notified.
Again, the CISSS de l’Outaouais wishes to point out that this situation is temporary and the return to normal is scheduled for Monday, October 28th, 2019 at 4pm.
Note that this week, the MNA for Pontiac, André Fortin, denounced this situation at the l’Assemblé Nationale. Click here to read the full article.
