SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Under the authority of the municipal council and in accordance with its guidelines, the Director General and Secretary-Treasurer is responsible for the administration, management, and smooth operation of the municipality. More specifically, they ensure the optimal management of human resources information, material and financial resources. They advise municipal authorities on the directions and objectives to be prioritized. They perform their duties in accordance with the Municipal Code of Quebec, any other applicable law or regulation, and any resolution, regulation, or policy duly adopted by resolution of the municipal council.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee the daily administrative operations of the municipality.
• Implement resolutions and policies adopted by the Municipal Council.
• Provide professional advice and administrative support to the Mayor and Council.
• Ensure compliance with applicable municipal legislation, including the Municipal Code of Québec.
• Supervise municipal staff and coordinate municipal services.
• Prepare council meeting agendas, reports, and supporting documentation.
• Manage municipal records and ensure transparency and accountability in administrative practices.
• Assist in budget monitoring and financial administration in collaboration with municipal staff or external partners.
• Liaise with regional organizations, government ministries, and community partners when required.
REQUIREMENTS
• Hold a college diploma in administration (accounting or finance) and/or any other combination of training and experience deemed equivalent.
• Exceptional fluency in French and English, both spoken and written
• Proficiency in Office suite software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and the ability to adapt to new technologies
• Knowledge of PG Solutions Municipal Management software (an asset)
• Knowledge of civil engineering and /or urban planning (an asset)
• Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
WORKING CONDITION
• Temporary full-time position, in the future, the responsibilities may continue under a different role or job title as the organization’s structure evolves.
• Annual salary based on experience
