Incumbent Mayor of Fort-Coulonge Faces Opposition in Bid for Council Seat

Christine Francoeur, the outgoing mayor of Fort-Coulonge, will face opposition in her pursuit of a council seat. Dave Hérault, a current municipal councillor in the Village of Fort-Coulonge, has also submitted his candidacy for Seat 1. Hérault was elected in February 2023 following the passing of Lucie Bertrand, narrowly defeating Freeda Béchamp Graveline in a by-election.

Christine Francoeur, who was elected mayor in 2021, has officially filed her candidacy for Seat 1. She explained her decision by noting that she has accepted a position as a political attaché for Pontiac–Kitigan Zibi Member of Parliament Sophie Chatel.
