Increase in cases elsewhere in the Outaouais, statistics in the Pontiac rather stable for the moment

The Acting Director of Public Health in the Outaouais, Brigitte Pinard, said during the press conference of the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais, that she is seeing an increase in cases in the Outaouais region since mid-December. “Last week (January 3-9) we had a total of 359 cases in the region. This gave us an average of 51 new cases per day for the week. This is the highest number of cases in a week that we have had since the start of the pandemic, “says Brigite Pinard.

The CISSS de l’Outaouais also mentioned observing a record number of close contacts over the past few days. Almost 600 people were considered to have had close contact with confirmed cases. Moreover, these people had to self-isolate for 14 days.

Statistics in the Pontiac Local Health Network (RLS) are rather stable for the moment. In fact, the Pontiac currently has, as of January 13, 5 or less active cases on its territory. Last week, the number of active cases had climbed to seven (7). All the same, the municipalities of L’Isle-aux-Allumettes and Waltham have joined the municipalities now having cases of COVID-19.
