MRC Pontiac Warden Jane Toller held a press conference with local Pontiac media last Friday. She addressed the various priorities identified at the start of her mandate, almost three and a half years ago. As she had done a few weeks ago, without naming anyone, Jane Toller said she was trying to protect the Pontiac from a certain group of people, who she said tend to make false promises.

“I am enthusiastic about the future of the Pontiac. I realize that I have to protect the Pontiac since some people try to take advantage of the Pontiac, as has been the case in the past. Too often false promises have been made. I won’t make any announcements unless it’s official said Jane Toller.

A few weeks ago, she cited the cannabis research center project of the LiveWell company and the Pontiac Technology Center & Resort (PTCR) project, a $ 5 billion project , as examples whose business projects could not materialize. Jane Toller has also questioned the feasibility of the bio-park project in recent weeks.

Candidate again in 2021?

Jane Toller did not say if she was re-running in 2021, but she did mention thinking about it.

When asked about her best moments since her mandate, she cited among other things her meeting with the Minister of Forests, Wildlife and Parks, Pierre Dufour.

“He said that the Pontiac had a lot of projects, it was a victory since in my opinion the MRC had not been considered for a few years when the discussions were to focus on the forestry industry”, mentioned Jane Toller.

She also underlined the fact that the Premier of Quebec, François Legault, said he was interested and open to the project of creating energy from waste.

Also questioned about her worst moment since her tenure, Jane Toller referred to the past few weeks and questions regarding the bio-park. She recognized that she had a duty to find unity within the Council of Mayors.

“It’s difficult, because we have to find a consensus despite our disagreements and I hope to be able to achieve it in the coming weeks”, mentioned the first Warden elected by universal suffrage in the MRC Pontiac.

Remember that municipal elections across Quebec will take place on November 7.
