Hydro-Québec’s network tested in the Pontiac
A storm system with strong winds swept through Ontario and Quebec last Friday evening, September 21, causing several power outages in our region.
According to Hydro-Québec, the outages were mainly caused by trees and branches that broke due to stress for the strong winds. At one point, all the Pontiac that was in the dark, both the MRC and also the municipality of Pontiac.
In the municipality of Pontiac, several homes were affected by a tornado and high winds. Those in need of shelter or other support are asked to contact the Red Cross. CISSSO is also offering trauma counseling, advice and referrals for those affected. Please contacting 8-1-1 for the their services.
Drinking water will be available at the municipal public work site in Luskville 2024, highway 148 behind the municipal hall during opening hour.
In the Outaouais, the tornado that devastated the Mont Bleu area of Hull in Gatineau had an impact on the ongoing Quebec election campaign, since all the leaders of the 4 main parties were in the Outaouais. The MNA for Pontiac André Fortin also accompanied his party leader Philippe Couillard during his visit.
Outaouais, Abitibi-Témiscamingue and the Laurentians are the regions that have been hardest hit. On Monday morning in Quebec, more than 90% of affected customers have had their power restored.
