High-speed Internet, the priority for William Amos in 2021

21 December 2020 à 12:00 am

The MP for Pontiac, William Amos, judges that it is the issue of accessibility to high-speed Internet in the rural areas of his riding that will be the priority for the next year on the local and regional scene. The member for Pontiac in Ottawa mentioned that he supported the Connexion Fiber Picanoc (CFP) project, which intends to connect all households in the MRCs of Pontiac and Vallée-de-la-Gatineau to High-speed Internet.

In his discussion with Minister of Middle Class Prosperity and Member of Parliament for Ottawa-Vanier, Mona Fortier, William Amos had mentioned that teleworking in the Canadian public service could be beneficial for the Pontiac region, provided they have access to a cellular network and high-speed Internet. The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly altered the organization of work within several federal government departments, which now allows and uses teleworking.

Recall that a request was made to the Fund for administered broadband by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). The desired total subsidy of $ 40M will be assumed at 50% by the Quebec Ministry of Economy and Innovation (MEI). The CRTC is expected to render a decision in the coming weeks.
