Heavy rainstorms leave thousands without power

Thursday evening’s (July 24) heavy rain and wind have downed trees and left thousands without power in the Pontiac region.

The hardest hit areas are the southern municipalities of Shawville, Portage-du-Fort, Bristol and Municipality of Pontiac, with a total of around 5,000 addresses with no electricity, according to Hydro-Quebec’s website.

The estimated times for power returning vary depending on region, but are predicted to be around noon today.
