Heatwave Continues in the Pontiac: New Warning in Effect
Maximum temperatures ranging from 30 to 34 degrees, combined with high humidity, will produce humidex values near 40. Nights will remain warm, with lows of 20 degrees or higher, offering little relief. However, conditions are expected to improve during the day on Wednesday, with more seasonal daytime highs and lower humidity anticipated by Thursday.
Environment Canada is reminding residents to take steps to protect themselves and others. It is recommended to check in — in person or by phone — several times a day on seniors, people living alone, and others at risk. People are also advised to watch for early signs of heat-related illness, which can include headaches, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine, and extreme fatigue.
“Stop your activity and drink water,” Environment Canada advises.
A heat warning is issued when very hot or humid conditions are expected to present a high risk of heat-related illnesses, such as heat stroke and heat exhaustion.
