Gatherings: new instructions
It will be allowed, as of June 22, to hold indoor gatherings in public places respecting a maximum of 50 people, under certain conditions.
Public health also relaxes the rules of physical distancing, as explained by the strategic medical advisor at the Directorate General of Public Health, Dr Richard Massé, Monday morning:
As in other circumstances, a distance of 2 meters will be recommended between people. Places where people who are seated will not have to move for reasons other than entering or leaving it, such as classrooms at CEGEPs and universities and concert halls and cinemas, must require a distance. 1.5 meter physical.
Public health authorities in Quebec have announced these changes in relation to physical distance during indoor gatherings in public places and between children 16 and under, given the evolution of knowledge relating to the transmission of the virus and the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.
[(Note:
– During general gatherings, the distance of 2 meters must continue to be maintained with others.
– The mask or face cover is strongly recommended when physical distance is not possible in public places.
– The physical distance of 1.5 meters will only apply to spectators or users. – In the case of artists, entertainers or others, the latter must respect a distance of 2 meters with others.
– As for gatherings in private places, physical distance will not apply to people from the same household.)]
It should also be noted that in places where there is increased traffic, such as common areas or queues, the distance to be respected between people will remain 2 meters. Wearing a mask or face covering is also recommended in these circumstances.
Instructions and recommendations specific to the sectors concerned will be specified later.
Physical distance between children
In addition, children aged 16 and under may also, from June 22, be at a distance of 1 meter from each other. This flexibility will allow children to interact more easily, while maintaining a safe distance. It will apply to daycare services, schools and day camps in all regions of Quebec, insofar as the epidemiological situation is stable.
The National Director of Public Health, Dr. Horacio Arruda:
Until more knowledge is known about the transmission of the virus, it is essential to continue promoting proven and internationally recognized measures such as frequent hand washing and respiratory etiquette.
Note also that the creation of bubbles, formed of children or young people from 4 to 6 people, will allow them to exchange, play or work with each other by eliminating the distancing within these restricted groups. .
Since school environments and daycare centers are considered to be mixed environments, where children and workers work side by side, the physical distance of 2 meters between adults and children must however be maintained.
