Future of the news media: ARCQ expresses concern about the Government of Quebec’s strategy
A few days after announcing the creation of a parliamentary commission on the future of the news media, an interdepartmental committee, chaired by the Minister of Finance, was created to identify the help that can be provided for print media, with only a few weeks before the commission. That same committee is proposing to table a plan for assisting print media before the work of the commission begins, which is causing concerns at the Association of Quebec community radio stations (ARCQ). The Director General of the Association, Martin Bougie, is questioning the government’s strategy and its effects on the credibility of the commission’s work:
