Fondation Philanthropie Outaouais (FPO) has announced the eight organizations selected as part of the first phase of funding for its Free to Play Fund. Thanks to a $473,000 contribution from Community Foundations of Canada, these initiatives will enable children aged 0 to 12 to move, create, and thrive through free play.
Established with the support of the Waltons Trust, the Lawson Foundation, and the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Foundation, the program aims to reduce barriers to play, while fostering children’s development and strengthening social connections.
The selected organizations are:
Centre d’animation familiale de l’Outaouais inc. (Gatineau)
CPE La Bottine de Maniwaki inc. (La Vallée-de-la-Gatineau MRC)
Maison de l’Amitié de Hull (Gatineau)
Municipality of Campbell’s Bay (Pontiac MRC)
Municipality of Chelsea (Les Collines-de-l’Outaouais MRC)
Carrefour familial Papineau (Papineau MRC)
Partenaires du Secteur Aylmer (Gatineau)
Chelsea Cooperative Nursery School (Les Collines-de-l’Outaouais MRC)
According to FPO President Rock Poulin, the selection ensures balanced representation across the Outaouais, helping to create a strong and inclusive regional impact.
The call for proposals generated significant interest, with 32 initiatives submitted, representing a total of $1.25 million in funding requests. The selected projects will create environments that encourage free play, supporting children’s development, bringing families closer together, and strengthening communities.
FPO continues its mission to support local initiatives and reinforce the social fabric of the Outaouais.
