Quebec Premier François Legault was in the Outaouais on Friday (August 12) to announced the CAQ candidates for the ridings of Hull and Pontiac. After the press conference introducing Suzanne Tremblay for Hull and Corinne Canuel-Jolicoeur for Pontiac, Legualt followed the August 12 tradition of purchasing a book by a Quebec author. He and Canuel-Jolicoeur visited Bouquinart Bookstore and Art Gallery in the Aylmer portion of the Pontiac riding and sought the advice of co-owner Claudia Legault-Dallaire.

“Yes, but in fact it was like a big deal all the same, we knew a little in advance, there were visits like technical security all that, then we were asked to prepare suggestions,” she said (translated). “I know he’s a big reader so here it’s trying to find something he wouldn’t have read too, but I decided not to make a pre-established list in my head. I decided to really walk him around the bookstore and show him what I think might be interesting for him.”

The Bouquinart Library and Art Gallery is one of the closest francophone libraries to the MRC and Municipality of Pontiac. Legault-Dallaire spoke about some of the services that they offer.

She said that she suggested that Legualt pick up “Fait par un autre” by Simon Roy and “Les écrivements” by Mathieu Simard. To order a book or peruse their suggestions, you can consult their website here.

The bookstore is located at 110 rue Principale, unit 1, in Old Aylmer. Opening hours are Monday to Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
