François Legault “open” to the Energy from waste in the Pontiac
The Premier of Quebec, François Legault, says he is “open” to the implementation of a Energy from Waste project in the Pontiac.
During a press briefing held in Chelsea on July 3rd, the leader of the Coalition Avenir Québec gave his opinion on a project of this kind in the Outaouais region, in response to a question asked by CHIP 101.9.
François Legault was visiting the Outaouais on Friday to meet with local elected officials and discuss the various issues noted in the recent news, notably the forest industry and the health system.
The Energy from Waste project was also highlighted in the most recent year, in particular by the Warden of the MRC Pontiac, Jane Toller. She intends to receive domestic waste from the urban areas of Ottawa and Gatineau, in order to transform it into energy and create, according to her, about fifty jobs in the region.
In June, Toller mentioned that she approached the various Wardens in the Outaouais, as well as the mayor of Gatineau, Maxime Pednaud-Jobin, regarding her idea. She added that a study is currently being conducted by École Polytechnique on waste management in Outaouais.
