François Legault is concerned about the Outaouais region
The Outaouais worries the Premier of Quebec, François Legault. This is what he said at the press conference on Tuesday (March 30).

However, the Premier clarified that the Outaouais region remains in the orange zone for the moment. François Legault also referred to the current reality of hospitals in the Outaouais, mentioning that there was a lack of a hospital in the region. The border reality of the region was also mentioned. “We are going to talk with Ontario to try to harmonize the measures,” said François Legault. The Premier even referred to the possible return of the checkpoints along the Ontario border, without specifying whether this measure would be limited to the urban region or to the entire region. Scenarios are being studied for the Outaouais and other regions of Quebec which have also shown an increase in COVID-19 cases in recent weeks.
What seems to worry authorities in this increase in the spread of COVID-19 is that several cases are believed to come from the often more contagious mutant strains. Health Minister Christian Dubé said the Outaouais should obtain a new adjustment in the number of doses of COVID-19 vaccines. According to this information, several doses that were to be delivered elsewhere in Quebec will be sent to the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais.

A few minutes after François Legault’s press conference, the CISSS de l’Outaouais unveiled the data for the region via its Website. 57 new cases appeared yesterday (March 30). The number of active cases indicates 12 in the Pontiac Local Service Network (RLS) for a total of 103 since the start of the pandemic last year. The city of Gatineau has the majority of active cases with 404 out of a total of 501 for the whole of the Outaouais. Note that statistics from the CISSS de l’Outaouais indicated 18 hospitalizations and four patients in intensive care.
