Four people arrested in Otter-Lake for series of thefts
Yesterday (May 9), Sûreté du Québec officers arrested four people and conducted a search in Otter-Lake in relation to a series of shoplifting cases that took place between March 17 and May 5 in both MRC Pontiac and MRC Vallée-de-la-Gatineau. Police say that the suspects took out grocery baskets and items while accomplices distracted the clerks.
Two men, 41 and 60, as well as two women, 41 and 45, were arrested and released on a promise to appear. They are due back at the Campbell’s Bay Courthouse at a later date where they could face multiple theft charges. A vehicle was also seized as offence-related property during the search on chemin Philippe, in Otter-Lake. The arrest of the suspects led to the resolution of 10 business theft cases in the 2 MRCs (Shawville, Otter-Lake, Low and Kazabazua area).
