FORUM EN FÊTE 2026: EXPLORING INTERGENERATIONAL COHABITATION

14 April 2026 à 11:45 am

As part of the 2026 Quebec Intergenerational Week, Intergénérations Québec will host its flagship event, Forum en fête: Exploring Intergenerational Cohabitation, on May 14th at the Centre Québecor (Le Salésien) in Sherbrooke.

From 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., the event will highlight various intergenerational cohabitation initiatives while also recognizing the winners of the 2026 Intergenerational Initiatives Contest. The gathering aims to promote projects that strengthen connections between seniors and youth, in a context where social isolation and the housing crisis remain key issues in Québec.

The program will include the presentation of the book Ensemble: récits de cohabitation intergénérationnelle, the result of three years of work. The publication showcases real-life experiences from across Quebec and will be presented by author Gabrielle Coulombe and photographer Mikaël Theimer, followed by a talk and book signing session.

Two panel discussions will enrich the program. The first will feature students and residents involved in intergenerational cohabitation arrangements, including service exchanges and shared living environments. The second will explore legal, architectural, and economic challenges related to these models, with participation from organizations such as Village Urbain, Pax Habitat, and Espace Muni.

The Forum en fête will also feature the awards ceremony for the 2026 Contest, recognizing initiatives across six categories, including arts, community, and knowledge transmission. Each winner will receive a $1,000 grant provided by the Luc Maurice Foundation, while an honorary category will highlight municipal and private-sector projects.

The event will conclude with a networking cocktail and artistic performances, including a comedy act by Benoit Pelletier and performances by the Sherbrooke choir Chœur Florilège.

Intergénérations Québec emphasizes that this forum aims to strengthen intergenerational ties and promote a more inclusive and caring society.
