Incumbent Liberal MNA André Fortin held his official campaign launch in Aylmer on Sunday (September 4), at the Brasserie le 5e Baron. The party’s slogan for this campaign is “Vote for real”.

“When we talk about health care issues, these are issues that are experienced every day by the citizens of the riding,” he said (translated). “Those are real priorities. When we knock on doors, people talk to us about that, they talk to us about the health care system, they talk to us about the education of their children, they talk to us about child care spaces. So, what we are saying through the slogan ‘Vote for real’ is to think about the real issues. Then, we have real solutions. [What are the real issues?] Well, it’s honestly the health care system. The fact that we continue to lose our nurses in Ontario. The fact that we continue to close certain services because we lack health professionals. That’s what comes to mind initially. And, I have been hounding the government for several years on this question, which is still not settled. I know that one of the solutions is to properly pay our nurses, our health professionals, to improve our working conditions as well. The government knows it too.”
