Fort-Coulonge residents are invited to select books following shuttering of municipal library

2 February 2023 à 11:13 am

The Fort-Coulonge municipal council made the decision last December to permanently close its library and is now inviting citizens to come and take books. Two books can be acquired per person during two evenings, February 7 and 9, at the municipal office. Mayor Christine Francoeur mentioned that these books have been paid for and that they will be divided among the citizens of this municipality.

“We are going to have two nights, the first night is February 7 from 3 to 6 p.m., the second night is February 9 from 3 to 9 p.m.” she said (translated). “Then, we must specify that these evenings to pick up books are really for the population of Fort-Coulonge. We are going to hand out books for free, because we felt as if the population had already paid for these books. So we want to give them what we have left.”

The council will be deciding in the coming weeks what should be done with the space the former library occupied in the municipal hall, located on rue Principale.
