The former police chief for the Pontiac region, Denis Lamothe, has served as the CAQ MNA for Ungava since 2018 and is seeking another term in office. Lamothe was the chief of the Sûreté du Québec detachment in Campbell’s Bay in the 1990s and early 2000s. During his term in office, he served as the parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Forests, Wildlife and Parks (specifically the wildlife and parks files) as well as parliamentary assistant to the minister responsible for Indigenous Affairs. He faces, among others, the former NDP MP for the riding of Abitibi—Témiscamingue from 2011 to 2019, Christine Moore, who is representing the Parti Québécois. The daughter of former NDP MP, Roméo Saganash, Maïtée Labrecque-Saganash, is the Québec Solidaire candidate in the riding. The Quebec Liberal Party is represented by Tunu Napartuk. .
