Flood watch: Chichester, Sheenboro and l’Isle-aux-Allumettes
The municipalities of Chichester, Sheenboro, and L’Isle-aux-Allumettes are closely monitoring the rising water levels of the Ottawa River, which may continue to increase over the coming days.
Rapid snowmelt, combined with expected precipitation and above-normal temperatures, is causing increased runoff and rising water levels. Some private roads may become dangerous or impassable, and residents are advised to avoid them.
Residents in at-risk areas are encouraged to take precautions, including moving belongings to higher ground, securing outdoor items, and staying informed. Although water levels remain below flood thresholds for now, the situation can change quickly.
Sandbags are available at the municipal garage (450 Rang 5 Road) for urgent situations, with priority given to primary residences. Additional materials can also be purchased from local retailers.
The municipalities will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
