Fire Prevention Week
Fire Prevention Week
Fire Prevention Week will take place from October 5 to 11, 2025.
Each year in Québec, fires cause on average:
-
4,951 homes damaged (about 13 homes per day)
-
308 people injured
-
27,000 people evacuated
Nearly 48% of house fires are linked to distraction or human error.
Improper use of electrical appliances and a lack of maintenance of your installations can lead to a fire. Electrical appliances and power distribution equipment are the heat source for more than 23% of damaged residential buildings. Among fire victims, 67% are over 60 years old. If you are a senior or care for a senior, it is especially important to remain vigilant.
Knowledge of fire risks and adopting safe behaviors help improve safety for everyone.
