Financial assistance to improve food security

Pontiac MP William Amos, along with his colleague from Hull-Aylmer Greg Fergus, announced federal funds to improve food security in our communities.

“Now more than ever, they need the support of the Government of Canada to provide the critical services that Canadians count on to feel safe and healthy,” said William Amos.

A sum of $ 164,000 intended to improve the food security of Outaouais residents who are suffering the social, economic and health consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic has been announced.

The funds were distributed among the following organizations:
● La Manne de l’île (8 000 $)
● Regroupement des cuisines collectives de Gatineau (47 000 $)
● Centre alimentaire Aylmer (15 000 $)
● Table de concertation sur la faim et le développement social en Outaouais (20 000 $)
● Aux goûts du Jour (Les Oeuvres de charité) (6 000 $)
● Table de développement social du Pontiac (1 200 $)
● Table de développement social de la Vallée-de-la-Gatineau (9 600 $)
● Le Grenier des Collines (48 800 $)
● La Maison des Collines (8 400 $)

It was clarified that organizations will use the funds not only to purchase and distribute food, but also to hire temporary staff to fill the volunteer gap and implement biosecurity measures, such as personal protective equipment, to reduce the spread of COVID-19 among volunteers and clients.
