The municipality of l’Île-du-Grand-Calumet issued a press release, Monday, on the various files of importance that held their attention in recent months. Here are the main files in l’Île-du-Grand-Calumet;
Purchase of a rescue boat
The municipality of l’Île-du-Grand-Calumet confirmed that it had purchased a rescue boat on September 11th, 2019 for $ 22,600.22. This purchase, as explained by the municipality, was subsidized by a grant of $ 14,500. According to the municipality, this purchase is part of the emergency plan of the ministère de la sécurité civile.
Rink
The municipality of l’Île-du-Grand-Calumet explained why there is no outdoor skating rink this year. According to the municipality, last year, a subsidy was received for the creation of an ice rink attendant job. This year, the grant was not renewed and the municipality mentions that due to the low traffic last year and the lack of volunteers, the decision was made, in collaboration with the recreation committee, that the staking rink would not open in 2019-2020. The Golden Age Club will not be relocated
According to the municipality, after several analyzes, the council announced that no relocation of the Golden Age Club would occur. The possible relocation of the Golden Age Club had provoked several negative reactions from citizens in recent months.
National Park
The municipality specified that the National park project in the Îles Lafontaine remains part of the council plans. It is mentioned that the MRC Pontiac has decided to take over in this matter and that the municipality is awaiting the formal creation of the committee.
Remember that the Ministère de la faune, des forêts et des parcs said that they were unaware of the existence of a project for the Îles Lafontaine.
Municipal meetings in 2020
The municipality has unveiled the calendar of the public municipal council meetings: February 10th, March 9th, April 14th, May 11th, June 8th, July 13th, August 10th, September 14th, October 5th, November 9th and December 14th.
