Fifty cases of COVID-19 in the Outaouais
The Outaouais now counts 50 cases of COVID-19, 12 more than the previous day.
Without revealing the sectors of origin of the different cases, the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais indicates that “fewer than five are located in rural areas of the Outaouais”, the rest being in urban areas.
The Public Health Department said that its main concern is to protect the infected people in rural areas, because they “can be easily identified in small communities”, which explains why the CISSS de l’Outaouais does not not confirm the sector or territory of residence of these individuals.
Also, the CISSS de l’Outaouais reiterated that each new confirmed case automatically triggers an investigation by the Public Health Department to identify the contacts of people with COVID-19 and advise them of the proper course of action.
Citizens are called upon to continue to apply government’s isolation measures, and to avoid non-essential travelling. “The collaboration of everyone is essential to the resolution of this pandemic crisis”, mentionned the CISSS de l’Outaouais.
As of March 30th, five hospital workers contracted COVID-19. According to the CISSS de l’Outaouais, they are currently in confinement and their health condition is being monitored.
In Quebec, to date, 4,162 cases have been confirmed for COVID ‑ 19, of which 31 deaths have been reported.
Recall that the provincial deputy of Pontiac, André Fortin, indicated that the decision to publish or not the data of reported cases of COVID-19 by sector returns to CISSS de l’Outaouais.
