Festivals and outdoor activities dominate Quebecers’ choices for the construction holidays

As the construction holidays approach, Quebecers are prioritizing festivals, outdoor activities, and family packages for their summer getaways. This is according to an analysis of searches conducted on the Québec Vacances portal by Événements Attractions Québec (ÉAQ).

Data collected between June 15th and July 7th shows that festivals are the most sought-after activity, followed by nature activities, whale watching cruises, summer theatre, beaches, bike paths, water parks, shows, zoos, agritourism farms, and museums.

Families remain the primary clientele for accommodation packages, ahead of couples, solo travelers, groups of friends, and dog owners. Packages focused on gastronomy, golf, spas, and zoos are also among the most popular.

The study also reveals that vacationers are primarily looking to maximize their budget. The best deals often take the form of packages combining accommodation and activities, promotions for longer stays, or benefits offered to families, rather than simple discounts.

ÉAQ also encourages Quebecers to rediscover the attractions of their own region. The organization is seeing a growing interest in day trips and local vacations, with dozens of festivals and events taking place every week throughout Quebec.

According to a recent Léger survey conducted for the Ministry of Tourism, nearly a quarter of Quebecers plan to travel during the construction holidays, and two-thirds of them will choose a destination within Quebec. The Charlevoix, Quebec City, Laurentians, Lower St. Lawrence, and Gaspésie regions are among the most popular.

The average budget is approximately $1,400 for a five-day stay for three people.
