Father Douglas Bridge passed away at the age of 85
The Pontiac community is mourning the death of Monsignor Douglas Bridge, a longtime priest of the Diocese of Pembroke who died peacefully on September 14th at the age of 85.
Monsignor Bridge served as a priest for 62 years and was well known throughout the Pontiac, where he dedicated much of his career to local parishes and their communities.
In 1986, he was named an honorary prelate by Pope John Paul II in recognition of his service to the Catholic Church.
A visitation will be held Friday at St. John the Baptist Church in Pembroke from 1 to 4 p.m., followed by a reception at St. Peter’s Parish in Fort-Coulonge from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
His funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church in Fort-Coulonge, followed by burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
The family is asking those wishing to make a donation in his memory to consider donating to the parish of their choice.
