Fatal snowmobile accident in Otter Lake
The MRC Pontiac’s Sûreté du Québec responded to a call at around 1:30AM, on Wednesday morning regarding a snowmobile collision, which occurred on a lake in the Collins Road area of the municipality of Otter-Lake.
According to the initial information released by the Sûreté du Québec, two snowmobilers and a quad rider had just left a cottage and were following each other on Lac à la Loutre (Otter-Lake), towards another cottage in a different sector of the lake. The operator of the second snowmobile accelerated to pass the first snowmobile and struck a tree approximately 200 meters after passing.
The 56-year-old snowmobile driver, from the Ottawa area, was taken to hospital where his death was later confirmed. An investigation is underway to determine the circumstance of the collision. A toxicological analysis will also be carried out for the victim.
