Extension of interruption of service in Obstetrics at the Shawville Hospital
The interruption of service which occurred over the weekend in the obstetrics wing of the Pontiac Community Hospital, the notable second weekend in a row, has been extended until Wednesday, December 11th 2019, at 8am.
The Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais issued a notice of extension today, December 9th 2019, at 2:02pm, announcing that this weekend’s interruption of service which was supposed to end today at 4pm, has been extended to Wednesday at 8am.
On Friday, according to the CISSS de l’Outaouais, the interruption was due to a lack of nurses on staff in the obstetrics wing.
Note that until the service is reinstated:
– Pregnant women in labour, in the region, will be redirected after being evaluated at the Shawville Hospital to the Gatineau Hospital.
– In the event that a pregnant woman arrives for imminent delivery, there will be qualified personnel to provide care.
-Expectant mothers affected by this break in service have been notified.
