Local high school students from Ecole secondaire sieur de coulonge taking part in the Équipiste project held a press conference yesterday to announce a successful third year. Lisa Boisvert, the youth project manager for the Pontiac Carrefour jeunesse-emploi (CJE), explained that they have been installing bicycle repair stations along the PPJ trail primarily, but branched out this year by adding six new stations to local schools and beaches.

The new stations installed this year were at the following locations: Sieur-de-Coulonge School (Mansfield-et-Pontefract), Pontiac High School (Shawville), Dr. Wilbert Keon School (Chapeau), Norway Bay Beach, Chutes Coulonges, and Ile-du-Grand-Calumet Beach (Ile-du-Grand-Calumet).

Boisvert said that they were also currently working on a smart phone application to map out the stations and allow users to report broken tools, track their routes and even offer instructions on how to troubleshoot common mechanical problems.

One of the students who participated this year, Jade Rodeghiero, spoke about how much she enjoyed the program.
