Environment Canada issues air quality statement
Environment Canada has issued a special air quality statement for the Pontiac region, as smoke from wildfires in the western provinces is causing poor air quality and reduced visibility.
“Smoke from wildfires in the Canadian Prairies will cause poor air quality and reduced visibility until Friday morning,” the statement reads. “People most likely to suffer health effects from air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition and people who work outdoors, should avoid strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.”
