Enhanced public transit service in the Pontiac
The MRC of Pontiac and the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais are marking ten years of collaboration this year by announcing a significant improvement to public transit service in the Pontiac region.
Since April 20th, route 910 now offers six daily trips, compared to just two previously. This enhancement makes it easier to travel between the main service hubs in Pontiac—Quyon, Shawville, and Campbell’s Bay—with connections to Gatineau in the morning and late afternoon.
This initiative aims to better meet the needs of residents, whether they are workers, students, seniors, or individuals with medical appointments, while also promoting sustainable mobility in rural areas.
The warden of the MRC of Pontiac, Jane Toller, notes that this improvement will help simplify residents’ daily lives and support economic development, student retention, and efforts to reduce social isolation.
Meanwhile, the warden of the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais, Marc Carrière, emphasizes that this commitment to public transit also reflects a broader goal of supporting communities and addressing climate change.
This partnership between the two MRCs demonstrates that long-term collaboration can lead to concrete solutions that improve quality of life in the region.
