Emergency measures maintained until May 9 and still more than 60 active cases in the Pontiac
It is no surprise that the Premier of Quebec, François Legault, announced that emergency measures will be maintained throughout the Outaouais until May 9. Despite a drop in cases, the number of hospitalizations remains too high for the moment and the room for maneuver is not sufficient, according to public health.
“The region where it is the most difficult is the Outaouais. Yes, there has been a decrease in the number of cases, but when you look at the rate of positive tests, there is still an improvement. We went from 10.8% to 8.5%, but you have to understand that the average in Quebec is now 2.9%. This is really the region where there are the most. We have reached the limit on the number of beds planned for COVID patients. There is no room for maneuver ”declared Premier François Legault.
The number of active cases still above 60 in the Pontiac
The situation in the Pontiac also remains worrying with 64 active cases in the Pontiac local service network (RLS). The outbreak at the Pontiac Hospital in Shawville also revealed that at least 13 employees of the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais had contracted COVID-19. The number of new cases has even seen a significant decrease in the Outaouais region, indicating 56 as of yesterday (April 27).
The schools will therefore remain closed at least until May 9 and the curfew remains for the moment at 8 p.m.
