Edible Cannabis: CAA Addresses Young Drivers

Edible Cannabis: CAA Addresses Young Drivers

28 November 2025 à 2:53 pm

The organisation has released a survey revealing concerning data: one in five Canadians reports having driven under the influence of cannabis or ridden in a vehicle driven by someone who had consumed it. Despite this, Canadians remain highly aware of the risks, with 90% considering this type of driving a threat to their safety. In fact, it ranks among the top five road safety concerns identified by respondents. Simon Bourassa from CAA-Québec provides further insight:

The CAA also highlights a recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, which showed a 43% increase in edible cannabis use among young Canadians since legalization.

The campaign also draws on research conducted by the University of Saskatchewan, which used a driving simulator to measure the impact of edible cannabis on driving ability.

In summary, the CAA aims to remind Canadians—especially young people—that consuming edible cannabis is not compatible with driving, and that planning a safe way to get around is essential to avoid potentially serious consequences.
