E-questions phased out at MRC Pontiac meetings

At the MRC Pontiac council of mayors meeting on June 21, Warden Jane Toller announced during the section normally allocated to electronically submitted questions that they would no longer be accepting public questions this way going forward.

“Because COVID is fortunately not with us, the e-questions, we’re encouraging people to come to speak to us, rather than having e-questions, so we have removed e-questions from the MRC website and instead prefer people to come in person,” she said.

MRC strategic communications advisor Colleen Jones explained in a follow-up email that residents would still be able to correspond with elected officials and MRC staff, but the questions wouldn’t necessarily be brought up during the public meeting.

“Email correspondences and inquiries from citizens will be treated same as usual and will be responded to, but they will not necessarily be addressed during the public council meeting,” she wrote. “There is still a ‘correspondence’ section during plenary at the bottom of the agenda where mayors are informed of emails sent to our DG and staff about council business, etc. – that has not changed.”
