Drug bust in Ottawa, Gatineau and Luskville
Last Thursday (October 15th), during the execution of “Project New Haven”, police arrested 16 people and laid 138 charges to residents on both sides of the Ottawa River. Officers executed a dozen search warrants in Ottawa, Gatineau and in Luskville.
Police seized 11.59 kg of cocaine, 221 lbs of cannabis, 40,000 amphetamine tablets, $227,105 in cash, five vehicles, a cocaine press, cutting agent, commercial packaging materials, and several guns (two long guns, three handguns, a replica firearm, and an electric pulse pistol).
According to police, these high-level targets included individuals associated with crime rings in Ontario, including outlaw motorcycle gangs based in Ottawa and Quebec, who are responsible for supplying drugs to mid-level traffickers and street gangs.
Six of the accused are being held in custody and the others were released with conditions as well as upcoming court dates.
