Dave Blackburn does not intend to be a candidate in the next election
The most recent Conservative candidate in the most recent federal election, Dave Blackburn, announced yesterday (October 27) on his Facebook account that he had no plans to run again for an upcoming election.
«Yesterday, my second discussion in a month with the new political lieutenant for Quebec allowed me to build on the missing elements in my decision making.
Therefore, at the time of writing and sharing these thoughts, I do not intend to submit my candidacy in the federal riding of Pontiac or Jonquière for the Conservative Party of Canada in view of a possible election.»
In the most recent federal election in 2019, Dave Blackburn finished second, but far behind William Amos, who got over 48% of the vote. Dave Blackburn finished second with 16.84% of the vote, just ahead of the Bloc Québécois candidate Jonathan Carreiro-Benoit who obtained 16.05%.
“I must also point out that despite my sometimes harsh criticisms of the MP for Pontiac, Mr. William Amos, I have a deep respect for a person who did everything necessary to win the election twice with all the personal and family sacrifices that this requires.” wrote Dave Blackburn.
