“Currently no flooding indicators of concern” according to ORRPB
The Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board issued a press release on Friday (April 8) indicating that while the levels of the river are up due to the spring thaw, there are no signs indicating severe flooding at this time. The ORRPB acknowledges that there is a possibility of minor flooding in low-lying areas, but indicated that in the southern portion of the watershed (which includes the Pontiac), warm weather and rain in late March had melted much of the snow pack already.
The press release notes that it is “too early to forecast peak river conditions”, but the ORRPB is monitoring the situation closely. They will publish additional notices if the risk of flooding increases.
