In order to organize this return of class, the schools will be in contact with parents to find out their intentions, before May 4th, 2020.
Denis Rossignol mentioned that there are many details to be worked out before reopening elementary schools, but that the modifications will be made in the coming weeks in all establishments, to make it possible to better organize schools for the Fall of 2020.
The gradual reopening of schools will be voluntary. Parents of children with learning difficulties are, however, encouraged to send their child back to school. For health and safety reasons, the CSHBO indicated that children with special health conditions must stay at home. Parents who choose to keep their child at home will have access to activities and support, offered by the school teams.
In class, establishments will apply hygiene and distancing measures as recommended by the public health authorities. The number of students per classroom will be reduced to 15, and the distance of two meters must be respected. School transportation services will also be adapted to the new standards that will be applied on school buses.
High school, college and university students will not return to class until next Fall.
