COVID-19: general information kit
COVID-19: general information kit
The Québec government issued a general information package regarding the new strain of coronavirus, COVID-19, to organizations and the media. This document contains general preventive measures, hygiene, and border restrictions and information:
– Wash your hands often with warm running water and soap for at least 20 seconds
– Use an alcohol-based disinfectant if you don’t have access to soap and water
– Observe the rules of hygiene when you cough or sneeze (cover your mouth and nose with your arm to reduce the spread of germs)
– If you use a tissue, throw it away as soon as possible and wash your hands afterwards
Note that for Canadians traveling abroad, the level of risk varies depending on the destination. It is recommended to consult quebec.ca/coronavirus for each country’s recommendations.
To date, four cases of COVID‑19 have been confirmed in Québec. There is one case in which additional analysis must be carried out in order to obtain an official confirmation. In total, 79 cases are listed across the country, the majority of which are in Ontario and British Columbia. However, the overall risk in Canada remains low.
The Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais provided additional information during a press briefing this morning in Gatineau.
In January, the CISSSO had already implemented certain measures in the event that cases would be confirmed in Québec and the region: https://chipfm.com/The-CISSS-de-l-Outaouais-is-preparing-to-face-the-coronavirus?lang=en
