Councillor James Azola says another lawsuit is being filed
During the municipal meeting in l’Île-du-Grand-Calumet, January 13rd, the 10-day suspension (January 6 to 16) of Councillor Réjean Meilleur sparked several questions among the residents in attention. During the meeting, councillor James Azola said that another ”lawsuit” is underway at the Commission Municipal du Québec (CMQ).
According to information from the CHIP 101.9 newsroom, no ”lawsuit” is active at the CMQ, but a complaint has been filed against mayor Serge Newberry by councillor James Azola.
Several residents expressed frustration towards the municipal council after obtaining the information that, according to Mayor Serge Newberry, Réjean Meilleur’s file with the CMQ would have cost the municipality, and therefore the ratepayers, about $26,000.
Resident Johanne Bérard:
It should also be remember that a resolution, in October, was tabled by the MRC Pontiac to inform the Commission Municipale du Québec of a ‘perceived conflict of interest’ by Mayor Newberry in the Îles Lafontaine file.
