After declaring that there was a lawsuit against the mayor of l’Île-du-Grand-Calumet during the municipal council meeting Monday, councillor James Azola spoke to the CHIP 101.9 newsroom to clarify the statement in a short conversation.

As released by CHIP 101.9, Tuesday, this is not a lawsuit, but a complaint filed against the mayor of l’Île-du-Grand-Calumet Serge Newberry. James Azola declined to give further details, though saying that a lawsuit was not out of the question.

According to information obtained by CHIP 101.9, the complaint was filed with the Commission Municipale du Québec (CMQ). James Azola’s statements came during a public question period concerning the suspension of councillor Réjean Meilleur, following a decision made by the CMQ. More details will come regarding the various governance issues in the municipality of l’Île-du-Grand-Calumet.
