Comets Relocation: Team to Compete Under the Pontiacs Name
It’s now official: following the announcement that the Pontiac Comets would be moving from the Fort-Coulonge arena to Shawville, the team will now compete in the Northern Premier Hockey League (NPHL) under the name Shawville Pontiacs. This marks a return to the roots of an identity that once energized the Shawville community, as team owner Darcy Findlay recalled in a statement issued on August 13th.
The team used the occasion to unveil its new identity and coaching staff. Alongside owner Darcy Findlay, who will also serve as assistant coach and assistant general manager, will be Peter Howes. Another familiar face from the organization’s time in Fort-Coulonge, Matt Warren, will also join the coaching staff as an assistant.
On August 13, the Pontiacs also announced the signing of forward Ryanlee Wadden, originally from Waskaganish in Northern Quebec, who previously played for the Gatineau Flames. Season tickets for the Pontiacs’ home games in Shawville are now on sale at a regular price of $100, or $60 for students.
Further information is available on the team’s official website.
