Close to 50 teams competing in annual Community Bonspiel

The Shawville Curling Club’s annual Community Bonspiel kicked off on February 1, an annual tradition that dates back to 1976.

Roger Younge, one of the organizers of the event, explained that the event is the club’s biggest fundraiser every year, and will take place from February 1 to 10. He said that he and the other organizers were pleased with the turnout of 48 teams, a big increase from the previous year.

Kevin Hannaberry, another one of the event’s organizers, invited the public to come out to the club on Monday nights, where he hosts free curling lessons for beginners.
