CHSLDs : Marguerite Blais takes her share of responsibility but points the finger at the Liberal government
The minister Responsible for Seniors and Informal Caregivers in Quebec, Marguerite Blais, took some responsibility for the crisis unfolding in the CHSLDs, but added that the cuts made by the Liberal government of Philippe Couillard have damaged the centers accommodation.
Marguerite Blais was also minister Responsible for Seniors when the Liberals were in power until her departure, in 2015. She recognized that successive governments had severely neglected CHSLDs, care for seniors and their living environments .
The former Quebec Minister of Health, Gaétan Barrette, was quick to respond to the facts alleged by Mrs. Blais via Twitter. In a tweet, he sais that she had “never” asked him to pay the staff better or to hire more.

At the end of the day, Tuesday, Minister Marguerite Blais criticized the structures put in place by the ex-minister of Health, in a interview with Bernard Drainville, on 98.5fm (COGECO).
As of May 5th, Quebec has 33,417 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of 794 since the previous day. In Outaouais, there are 312, but none have been observed in the MRC Pontiac. The death toll stood at 2,398 in Quebec (4 in Outaouais), an increase of 118 compared to the last death toll.
