On December 1, the CHIP 101.9 Board of Directors held its Annual General Meeting, and presenting the station’s most recent financial statements. Since the 2012-2013 fiscal year, Pontiac Community Radio has obtained 9 financial surpluses in 10 years and the year 2021-2022 is no exception. The most recent fiscal year resulted in a surplus of $102,762. The board of directors has also revealed that it has made a financial investment of $450,000, in order to maintain good salary conditions for employees in the coming years.

“It’s a way to protect jobs, but also to ensure that CHIP 101.9 can always provide services to our population in order to inform them of what is happening in the Pontiac,” said President Diane Grenier.

Despite the positive numbers, CHIP 101.9 General Manager François Carrier, nevertheless advised caution.

“Yes, our results are excellent, but you never know what can happen and CHIP 101.9 has too important a role in our community for us to experience difficulties,” Carrier said. “You have to be everywhere, on the radio, but also on the web, so we will continue to manage intelligently.”

The employees presented excerpts from interviews, but also videos of the highlights of the most recent year, which saw three different elections (municipal, provincial and federal).

On the board of directors, only one change occurred, with the departure of Yvette Mellon who had held the position for more than 12 years. She was replaced by the former mayor of Mansfield-et-Pontefract, Gilles Dionne.

“We thank Yvette so much for all her work. She brought a lot to our organization and we are so blessed that she made the decision to give up her place to Gilles Dionne, a man who has always shown that he has his community at heart,” Grenier said.
