Canadian passport renewal is now available online
The Government of Canada now allows all eligible individuals aged 16 and over to renew their passports online, simplifying the process.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) now offers online passport renewal to all individuals aged 16 and over who meet the eligibility criteria. These criteria include having been issued within the last 15 years, not having been reported lost or stolen, and applying from within Canada.
Applicants should allow approximately 20 business days for processing, in addition to delivery time, as their current passport is invalidated upon submission of the application. Those who need to travel quickly can still apply in person.
As of April 1st, 2026, the fee for a 10-year passport for an adult is $163.50, while a 5-year passport costs $122.50. The government commits to processing applications within 30 working days, failing which the fees will be automatically refunded.
