Canada Day celebrations and the opening of the Thorne Farmers’ Market will bring the community together
Residents of Thorne and the surrounding area are invited to take part in a day of festivities, music, and family activities on Saturday, June 27th, as part of Canada Day celebrations and the official inauguration of the Thorne Farmers’ Market.
Activities will begin at 9 a.m. on the Thorne municipal grounds and will feature a varied program for all ages. Musician Danny Sylvester will provide entertainment throughout the day, while a barbecue sponsored by B&B Snow will allow visitors to enjoy food on-site.
Families will be able to enjoy a wide range of activities, including children’s games, inflatable structures, cotton candy, temporary tattoos, prize draws, and a “Touch‑a‑Truck” area where attendees can explore fire trucks, heavy machinery, and various work vehicles up close. Organizers are also inviting owners of unique vehicles, tractors, or trucks to take part in this popular activity.
The local fire department will join the festivities by hosting a fundraiser through the sale of ice cream. Additional attractions, including a possible dunk tank, are also being considered to enhance the day.
The event will also mark the official opening of the Thorne Farmers’ Market, a new initiative aimed at supporting local farmers, artisans, bakers, and creators. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover and purchase local products while meeting entrepreneurs from their community.
Organizers are still seeking volunteers to help with various activities, including the canteen, barbecue, children’s games, and raffle ticket sales.
Open to the entire community, this day is intended as an opportunity to celebrate Canada Day while strengthening community ties and encouraging local purchasing. Organizers invite residents to come with family and friends to enjoy this festive gathering.
