With the start of the Fort-Coulonge Mansfield Country Festival approaching on Thursday (June 2), campers have already started populating the grounds outside the Centre de Loisirs des Draveurs Century 21 Élite. Nearly 50 attendees have already arrived and more are on their way. Event organizer Phil Denault said that several volunteers were helping transform the arena into a proper concert hall.

“Yes, the arena we know it’s a, what we always say, a tin shack, but we’re changing the look of the arena a bit,” Denault said (translated). “Fabric on the ceiling, fabric all around, it really looks like a big theater. In the evening when it’s all lit up, the stage is so… the stage is huge. It is 16 feet by 32 feet. The drummer is even 12 feet tall. So it’s fun to see all the different heights. The talent that is going to be here from different genres of music. We have American country, Quebec country, even a little rock. We have Stéphanie St-Jean this year, who is the winner of La Voix. We have Michaela Cahill who was one of the finalists for La Voix.”

Tickets for the festival are still available at the box office.
